A Sacred Beginning for a New Era in Colombo

Today marks a significant milestone as the newly appointed Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the City of Colombo, together with the Municipal Commissioner and the Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Engineering Services), paid homage at the revered Gangaramaya Temple.

This first official visit following the oath-taking ceremony was made to invoke the blessings of the Thrivida Rathnaya—the Buddha, the Dhamma, and the Sangha—for strength, wisdom, and guidance as we embark on this new chapter of leadership for the city.

We humbly sought spiritual strength to lead with compassion, integrity, and unity as we strive to uplift the lives of all citizens and transform Colombo into a more inclusive, sustainable, and vibrant city.

Let this be the dawn of a new era, blessed by faith and driven by purpose.
