In celebration of Children’s Day 2025, the Environmental Committee, together with the Land Management and Environmental Development Division of the Colombo Municipal Council, organized a delightful and joy-filled event at Sathutu Uyana, Elie House Park, Aluth Mawatha, Colombo 15. In addition, the participation of Hon. Mrs. Lakmali Hemachandra, Member of Parliament, further encouraged and inspired the organizers, adding significance to this joyful occasion.
The park came alive with laughter, music, and excitement as children enjoyed free rides on play equipment such as the Joy Rider, Jet, Twister Ride, Bumper Cars, and Lady Bird etc. The event was further brightened by face painting, cheerful mascots, and food and ice cream stalls, creating a true carnival atmosphere for families. A lively musical band filled the evening with rhythm and joy as children danced and sang with smiles on their faces, and as night glowed with shimmering lights, Sathutu Uyana transformed into a magical wonderland.
Many of the participating children came from slums and housing flats, making the celebration even more meaningful giving them a chance to experience happiness, fun, and togetherness.
Adding to the festive spirit, Cargills Diaries (Pvt) Ltd generously sponsored the play equipment tickets, while Ritzbury sweetened the day by providing free chocolates for the children. Parents joined in the fun too, enjoying the rides and creating unforgettable memories with their little ones.
The celebration was graced by Members of the Municipal Council (MMCs), the Director of Engineering (Land Management & Environmental Development), and the dedicated staff of the division. With the joyful participation of children and parents from the community, the event became a heartwarming success a day filled with joy, laughter, music, and love.
