As part of the Centenary Celebrations of the Colombo Public Library (1925–2025), the Colombo Public Library Museum was officially inaugurated on 13th December 2025 at the Colombo Public Library premises.
The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Prof. Ankuran Dutta, Director of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Sri Lanka, and the Guest of Honor, Mrs. Sanuja Kasthuriarachchi, Director General of the Sri Lanka National Museums.
Also in attendance were Her Worship the Mayor of Colombo, Ms. Vraie Cally Balthazaar; Mr. Palitha Nanayakkara, Commissioner of the Colombo Municipal Council; Mr. Sudath Mahaadivulwewa, Chairman of the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka, Chief Librarian, Mrs. Varuni Gangabadaarachchi, Department Heads of the Colombo Municipal Council, and the Staff of the Colombo Public Library.
The opening of the Museum marks a significant milestone in commemorating one hundred years of service rendered by the Colombo Public Library to the nation.
