Colombo to have structured parking with the introduction of solar powered parking meters

As a leading council in the country, the Colombo Municipal Council has now initiated the project of Smart Park system which introducing new technologies on the parking management operation while enhancing services to the motorists in the city.

The project includes installation of parking meters along the entire Galle Road, R.A. de Mel Mawatha and all by-roads connecting to these roads and the parking management operator is Tenaga Car Parks (Pvt.) Ltd. We have completed installation of parking meters on the first phase and they are now operational.

The machines are of a renowned brand “CALE” of Sweden and its system is supported by Dialog Axiata Sri Lanka and enforcement by “G techna” of Canada.

This will benefit the public and business community as the availability of vacant parking slots will increase with this new system.

The new technology implemented will enable motor vehicle user to pay using a touch card introduced by Dialog Axiata Sri Lanka or by cash, for their convenience. Further payment option will be extended through a mobile application as well in the near future. We encourage the public to use the Touch Card as a payment option for the Parking Meters as the machine will not refund or give back change, if the cash deposit is selected as the payment option. Therefore public is advised to deposit the exact value in notes when the settlement is made via cash notes. The Dialog Touch Cards are readily available to purchase through Dialog merchant outlets in this zone as well as through any Staff of the Tenaga Car Parks (Pvt) Ltd who will be available near the machines at the initial stage for the customers’ convenience.
