Providing the more accessibility to the disabled community

The Municipal Engineers’ Department is working towards providing the more accessibility to the disabled community. It was started sometimes back by providing the tac tiles paths for the blind and the partially blind community in Galle road, Duplication road and some other roads in the city.

Recently, a pilot project was initiated to improve the accessibility for the wheel chair users. The Baudhdhaloka Mawatha was selected as the pilot project and the work is in progress in lowering the foot walks and removing obstacles ..etc. It is planned to make this free accessible walkway to the disabled before the Vesak festival this year (2018).

Also, an awareness programme was conducted to aware the CMC staff by the concerned citizens. The staff who works at the sites were also invited and it was an interactive and successful session.
