Breast Cancer Awareness Programme - 2025

In commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a collaborative Breast Cancer Awareness Programme was successfully held on October 2, 2025, at the Colombo Municipal Council premises.

The event was jointly organized by the Colombo Municipal Council, National Cancer Control Programme Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka College of Oncologists, College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Society of Breast Surgeons, the Roshan Mahanama Trust, and the Indira Cancer Trust.

The programme aimed to:

•        Raise public awareness about breast cancer

•        Promote early detection through education and outreach

•        Encourage regular screening as a key preventive measure

This united effort brought together medical professionals, public health experts, and community leaders to emphasize the importance of early intervention in the fight against breast cancer.

Together, these organizations reaffirm their commitment to reducing the impact of breast cancer across Sri Lanka through continued awareness, education, and access to care.
