The CMC Introduces a QR Code-Based Food Safety Complaint System

The Public Health Department of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) officially launched a new QR Code-Based Food Safety Complaint System on 05 November 2026, under the patronage of Her Worship the Mayor of Colombo, Ms. Vraie Cally Balthazaar.

The launch programme commenced in Wellawatte and proceeded to the Majestic City Food Court, marking an important step towards strengthening public participation in food safety monitoring and ensuring the provision of safe and hygienic food within the city.

Through this innovative system, members of the public can conveniently scan a QR code, complete a simple online form, and submit complaints regarding food safety concerns. The complaints will be forwarded directly to the relevant Medical Officers of Health (MOHs) and Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) for investigation and appropriate action.

In addition to the QR code-based facility, the public can also submit food safety complaints by contacting the CMC Public Health Department through the following channels:

This initiative reflects the Colombo Municipal Council's continued commitment to safeguarding public health, enhancing food safety standards and providing accessible and efficient services to the public.
